The article was edited by our own Natasha Raikhel, an Associate Editor or PNAS. This article is unusual for a broad science journal because it highlights art and science in the announcement of this year’s Lasker Awards for scientific achievements. Natasha, now an emeritus Distinguished Professor, was the visionary originator of CEPCEB and a former Director of IIGB (profile). Natasha was responsible for bringing the wonderful sculptures in the Genomics lobby and exterior by artist Jim Isserman, a UCR faculty member.
